Pirates on the Farm

By Denette Fretz

My kids have asked for this book at bedtime over and over again lately. It's a darling book with an truly meaty message. Simple- but deep. Love your neighbor. And brilliantly, the author's have included a little "Bible Study" in the back to help you got the message across from the Bible and start discussion on why and what it looks like. I'm a new fan of this new series and I'm totally recommending it to you!
I loved the rough pirates and how the dad in this story is such a picture of loving and leading and the mother comes around in the end and makes a sacrifice to keep the pirates in the community. The pirates learn to be farmers after all and the kids see firsthand what loving one's neighbor looks like. Best kids book I've read in a long time.
~Great illustrations.
~Fun glossary in the back.

Book Description

“No one ever imagined that five swashbuckling pirates would settle in our proper little southern community. But they did.”

When pirates move in next door, life on the farm is bound to get interesting. But will the unadventurous Sanders family be able to handle the pirates’ bad manners, ghastly grub, and outrageous antics? Or will they learn the importance of loving one’s neighbor and help the graceless pirates find their “land legs”?
