The Twins

We call the youngest two chldren here "the twins" which baffles people who don't know us ")

I'm just sassy enough to not explain to strangers either...let them think what they want!

We weren't told much before adopting and to be honest I fight a bitterness about that (many things could have been avoided) but the few things I was told didn't pan out anyway.

  • "Don't adopt out of birth order." -umm...look at the pictures. She's older than him, but they are raised and trained to mutually respect each other and fighting is not allowed. They are indeed best friends. Human reasoning down the toilet. Do things God's way.

  • "You will have too much trouble adopting a child that has been disrupted from another home." - Well, that one I can buy. I had plenty of troubles, but again, God intervened as He always does when called upon. Humanism and philosophy down the toilet again. I don't put up with bad behavior because my children are told in the Bible to respect me, and I am to teach them diligently. Do it all God's way and though you will still have trials and tribulations (uh huh!) it will all work out in the end. Diligence is key. Consistant training and not just responding to the kid's different moods and behaviors each day. Be people of the Word and doers- not just hearers, and you will avoid much trouble!

I'm no expert, of that I assure you. I fail daily, but I do know THE Expert- and if Christ is the ruler of this home, we are all going in the same direction and we have peace despite circumstances- and I can promise you: around here we get plenty of "circumstances"!

Not pretending it's easy...but letting those of you interested in adopting know that if you just stick to "The Book" and not count on all the other adoption books out there, you'll be better off. Not that you shouldn't read those, but remember that men are fallible and human "experts" change their mind all the time anyway. God never changes. He's the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I'm glad I can count on that!

Homemade swing! The goats were playing on the swingset ") We all gotta share!

After a friendly, but very competetive basketball game. This was one f the things that really bonded these two at first.

Showing off their coloring skills for Dad.

  1. They are precious. We tried to adopt a sibling group of 6. The only thing they struggled with was that we would homeschool. So, we did not get them. We were given all sorts of warnings about adopting.

  2. All I can say is Amen...I think some of the reasons you mentioned, is also why we have success with our two Africans...and God all the way:)
