Glory Day~

Today, about an hour ago, my faithful little Nubian Glory had a gorgeous set of triplet....bucks. Ah well, maybe they will go for pets, and maybe I'll use one on the ranch here. I always prefer when does are born because they are more valuable and can either be retained as milkers here or sold to another family as a milker. Not so the boys. They are either breeders, pets, or most often meat.
These three are 1st generation miniature Nubians. Which simply means they are half Nubian and half Nigerian Dwarf. 1/2 the size, 1/2 the feed and room, and 3/4 the milk. A good idea. Besides, I adore flashy colors and this way I get that too.

At about an hour old, this little guy is mouth breathing, so I'm not sure how he will do. Darling boy!

This one looks to be my favorite, and second born most likely.

The little black with white top and a flash of white under one arm looks to be first born and sassy.

Glory's udder is huge and very nicley shaped. However, I do feel the scar tissue from last year's bout with mastitis, so I won't be selling her. She will have to remain a pet. Too bad, because she is an amazing milker.

  2. They are so cute! My favorite time of year on the farm is when baby goats are born. We have had so many but I never get tired of them. They are so soft and cuddly. Have a good nite.

Tell me...how can you tell the birth order of the kids w/o having been there when they were born. You have my curiosity up. :-)
