Sometimes Life is Hard...

Last week we lost Doug's mom after a long winter of hospice and cancer. The last couple weks were grueling going over the mountains and back, especially when the passes were impassable- snow!

We have all been sick, and my whole household is just dragging. I am ready for spring and new life and new things- chicks and kittens and freshly turned garden soil. I saw my few remaining crocus are popping up- the ones that survived the chickens. Oh I love this ranch with all it's critters.

Ben's puppy finally had to go, he decided chickens were fun to torture, it was only a matter of time before he killed one, and we gave him to one of the guys who's going to paint our house. Our roof just got done last week, and it looks great. Insurance paid for it- the wind around here is so bad that I have seen a neighbor's greenhouse blow through my pasture. It's a wonder we even had a roof left after this winter. No more leaks now!

Even though I was desperately ill this past weekend, I went Friday night to a seminar with some close friends who came to stay a couple days for the event. I got home from sitting with Doug's mom to a fire going and hot soup and bread- oh it's wonderful to have friends like that! I always love my home when it's got company in it.

Wildbranch Ministry, Brad Scott is who came to town. He was great. My mind was whirring and it was hard to pay attention he was throwing out so much- but I got the DVDs and am watching them now. Amazing! The Hebrew aleph-Bet is so much more than just letters. I am loving my Hebrew lessons too. Class is hard to keep up with, but when I study at home I really get alot. I was too sick to go to class Monday, so bless Doug's heart, he took the video camera and got permission to tape the class so I could watch at home and not get behind! Can you believe that guy?!

Well, it's our anniversary today. Both of us are tired and still sick, but we are going to try to make it something special anyway. I haven't been to a store except a pharmacy in awhile, so I don't even have a card for him. Yikes.

Thanks to the McCarty and Lamay families for being so kind and picking up our slack last week- it's been tough, but you guys have brought comfort and aid- I have asked the Lord to bless you alot these past weeks! I love you guys!

  2. My sister had a doggie that killed one of her chickens. They say once they kill one they will get others. She had to let hers go to.
Hope you all feeling better soon.
    Happy anniversary!

  5. I am so sorry, Dalyn. What a loss for your entire family....

And to be sick and schlepping all over the country side too?

I am glad you were able to see Brad Scott. Whole new world, eh? I went on Thrusday night, I know what you mean about him talking a mile a minute! We have been listening to his tapes for a few months so I could follow along a bit but, boy!

I'd love to sit down and talk when you are feeling like things are getting back to normal, not sure I have all or even many answers but I am also intrigued!

Blessings to you and your family,

    Jennifer
